On May 28, 2009, a Job Readiness Conference was organized for students and recent alumni to learn about key tools employers expect of job candidates. This is a short synopsis of that event.

About 55 students attended, and about 60 volunteer professionals from around Milwaukee met with students.

Presentations included:
• First Impressions, Presenting Yourself for Success
• Internet Career/Job Search Research Networking
• MATC Student Employment Services for Students/Alumni
• 20 Minutes to Sell Yourself
• Career Essentials

Sessions offered included:
• One-on-one Interviewing
• One-on-one Resume Reviewing or Resume Construction
• Small Group Networking
• Career/Job Fair Workshop

A sample of student comments include:
• WOW - Excellent! Good Feedback. Everyone was very
friendly and professional.
• I enjoyed this experience and appreciated the opportunity
to attend.
• It was a privilege that the school gave me this most
important opportunity. Thank you.
• Very helpful and resourceful.
• This was a great conference, and I think that I am more
ready for the job market than before today.
• Good practical feedback and advice for resumes and
interviews.
• There was some tremendous information shared in this job
forum and it can apply to so many stages in life.
• It was a great program; I learned valuable information; it
has allowed me to understand what areas I need to work
on.
• It was a fantastic opportunity to every student and alumni
to benefit from MATC's generous resources.
• It was a great preparation for everyone to join the
workforce confidently, and hopefully secure a job.
• I believe this to be a very valuable tool for students and
alumni. Please continue to offer this.
• I learned new things about job research, practiced
interviewing; it was very helpful for me.
• This is a great way to get people comfortable with job
searching; we don't know what we are up against until we
are in that situation. This was good practice and prepared
us. Thank you.
