Students want to turn tables on instructors

The beginning steps to having an online review of instructors for students to see have begun.
According to a letter to Student Governor Dave Sommers, Interim Provost Evonne Carter is looking into a way to have instructors post their information on the MATC website. "Other colleges do ask the faculty to develop personal websites that include personal and instructional information to students and the public," Carter said.
Carter states that there are no guidelines that require posting any information, but adds "many of our instructors do
provide such information for their online students."
Carter explained that with about 2,000 instructors, "some of whom would need assistance in developing and maintaining the sites," such an undertaking would take time.
Sommers believes that this would allow students an opportunity to have some prior knowledge of instructors and hopefully allow for students to make better choices of the instructors for the classes they need.

This quite possibly could leave better choices for students and instructors and lessen the mishaps later in the semester of any conflicts that could arise, even based on personality exchange. (Continued…)

I'm excited for this. I've been attending MATC for 4 years now. I've heard from other students who have taken an exact same course with a different instructor and had a completely different syllabus and experience. (Continued…)

I think this suggestion is good. I thinks its only fair that a student should know what to expect from the instructor.
I would also like to see an area where students could post their feedback about the instructors for all to see. (Continued…)

I like this idea very much. I've had instructors that were so bad I could barely get out of the class fast enough. If students can read a review on a instructor, it would make their lives better. (Continued…)
