Spheres of Proud Achievement in Reading for Kids creates the acronym SPARKS. But this program is much more than letters and words; it's the actions of the instructors and the effort the students produce.
The SPARKS program focuses on students in kindergarten and grades 1 through 3 who are struggling with reading. Breslau explained how instructors use a variety of methods to motivate these challenged students. This helps them feel comfortable and secure while learning. Because the instructor believes in them, this program enables those kids to be readers. Getting these kids to read the correct level is this program's objective.
Although some of the instructors admitted it can be challenging at times, they enjoy motivating kids to love reading.
Caren Breslau, SPARKS Site Coordinator spoke about the instructors, "They can't see themselves doing anything else."
The sparks program is looking for qualified literacy instructors. For more information, contact Caren Breslau at carenb@boysgirlsclubs.org.
